The PTA President's Letter (January 20, 2012)

 

The New Year is well underway and so are some exciting PTA projects.  At our last PTA meeting Outdoor Classrooms were reviewed and an incredible THANK YOU to Vicki and Scott Mostrom for all of their time and talents. The scoop….

 

  • Mark Mostrom and Julia Kriz from Landscape Projects Inc. spoke regarding the outdoor classroom that is wanted along with the addition to the school. The outdoor classroom would be located in the courtyard area of the renovated school's plan.
  • They showed 2 designs that had been drawn up and discussion was held regarding both. As they were both great plans, it was agreed that one plan seemed more functional than the other.
  • Mrs. Colgary is going to show the plans to the teachers and get their feedback as to which design they like best.
  • A decision on one of the designs needs to be made soon in order to meet with the county prior to the drainage system being installed in that area.
  • The outdoor classroom would be laid with a permeable surface to ensure there would be no standing water or water flow to the buildings.

The Science Expo is coming up. Set us is February 9 and the Science Expo is February 10. Sign up forms are available above. The Expo is open to all grades and can be done as single or group projects. Keep it simple or go overboard, and we'll look forward to seeing your work. Enjoy!

Volunteers are needed for 4/5 and 2/3 recess. If you can spare 45 minutes around lunchtime, we are looking for volunteers to help supervise recess in the gym and blacktop. If you are interested use the following links to sign up.

  • Bingo Night and Staff Raffle are next Friday, January 27 at Lakelands Park Middle School starting at 7:00 pm. You can find the food order form above. 
  • The PTA Board Meeting is on Tuesday February 7.
  • Looking further ahead Dads, save the date for Fruit for Families, previously known as Donuts for Dads, which is on Friday, March 9. 
  • Do you have an item you can donate to the PTA for our Silent Auction?  We will be holding the auction on March 22. Look for more details in an upcoming Mustang Magazine. The Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Music and Arts Evening, to be held on Thursday, March 22. next PTA meeting is on Wednesday January 11 at 5pm.
